AKA: TEAM AWESOME!

VITO VENTURA - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Vito Venturino was born in Buenos Aires in 1976. He began his music studies at SADEM in 1994 and continued in the JCC Conservatory and years later finished in the Escuela de Jazz Andres Isassi de Bilbao, in Spain. Since 1994 until the year 2002 he played in various rock bands, namely “Capsula,” which continues to tour. From 2002 to 2004 he played in various jazz bands and in 2008 formed El Cachivache Quinteto, a tango band with which he has toured the world. He has DJ’d in many festivals in Europe, such as the Porec Tango Festival in Croatia and in the majority of milongas in Buenos Aires.

As a DJ Veronika is known for her lively approach and acute sensitivity to the energy and flow on the dance floor, which has led to numerous comments along the lines of “You’re killing me! I want to dance every tanda!”

She has been invited to DJ at milongas, festivals and marathons across the US, Canada, Europe and Argentina. In addition to DJing Veronika also has 14 years experience in dancing tango, 11 of those organizing milongas and festivals, and 8 years teaching. For the last 4 years Veronika has been dividing her time between living and studying in Buenos Aires and returning home to share her love of this dance.

VERONIKA KRUTA - San Francisco, CA
PABLO BLUE - Buenos Aires, Argentina
PACHA MENDEZ - Buenos Aires, Argentina
MILTON AZEVEDO - Boston, Massachusetts

Pacha Mendes: musician, borned and raised in Patagonia. Music collector. Bass player for El Cachivache. Full time tanguero.

Pablo grew-up in a tanguero family. During the 90s he started to play his first tangos after passing through Blues and National Rock, which has influenced his current repertoire. He is the pianist for El Cachivache Quinteto and is returning for the second time to DJ at Buena Onda Tango Immersion after unintentionally DJing last year to fill in for a last minute DJ cancellation, and to our pleasant surprise totally rocking the house!

Milton "El Gallo" Azevedo is not your regular DJ. He is an entertainer who understands that every moment, every second, of an event matters. His approach to DJing mirrors his approach to tango. He looks to deeply connect with the people in the room, carefully selecting songs, tandas, and even cortinas to create a mood that accentuates the experience for each dancer present. Be careful, his exuberant energy is infectious! Occasionally, you may even find him standing on chairs, orchestrating the experience and engaging with the crowd.

Milton hails from Boston-ish (MA, USA). He DJs regularly all across the northeast United States and Canada but is not exclusive to those areas. He is willing to travel and has DJed many major events! Most recently: "LOCA" (Newton, MA), "Natural Tango Festival" (Denver, CO), "Austin Spring Tango Fest" (Austin, TX), and "Zurich Tango Marathon" (yeah, in Switzerland!) and in years before: "Berlin Summer Tango Marathon", "Abrazo" and "La Fete" (Montréal, QC), TTX and Tango 8 Fest (Toronto, ON), Puerto Rico Tango Marathon (San Juan, PR), "Natural Tango Festival" (Denver, CO), "ESO" (Buffalo, NY), BOSthon" (Cambridge, MA), and... I could on, but you get the point.

LIVE MUSIC

FROM BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

ABOUT EL CACHIVACHE

El Cachivache Quinteto is currently one of the most popular tango groups and is widely recognized on the world music circuit. Sometimes called 'Tango Punk,' the group is characterized by its undeniably creative, original, and very “danceable'' style.

In 2008, two Argentinian musicians living in Spain, Vito Venturino (guitar) and Pablo Montanelli (Piano) reconnected with their Porteño roots and formed the group Cachivache. They quickly attracted attention in Europe and Asia for their very distinctively modern style. Once resettled in Buenos Aires, they began to compose original pieces while also at the same time continuing to thrill dancers and fans of classic tango arrangements with an undeniably contemporary sound.

Greatly implicated in the Buenos Aires tango dance community, they hold their own milonga once a week where the orchestra plays often and the musicians Dj.  They are also much appreciated for their musicality seminars.
